(UPDATE: May 12 @ 10:30 am) - The closer of the two fires burning outside of Merritt is now listed as under control by the BC Wildfire Service.
The Swakum Mountain blaze was spotted on Saturday and as of Sunday morning, it was listed as under control at a size of 2.5 hectares.
A cause has not been identified for the wildfire.
East of Swakum Mountain is the Lauder Creek fire, which grew to nine hectares according to the latest update from Saturday.
The Lauder Creek fire remains listed as out of control and is suspected to have been caused by human activity.

A pair of wildfires near Merritt are keeping first responders in the Kamloops Fire Centre busy this weekend.
The first fire was located on Friday east of Merritt near Lauder Creek.
According to the BC Wildfire Service, the blaze is out of control and eight hectares in size and is suspected to be caused by humans or human activity.
On Friday night, the service stated in a social media post that ground crews responded to the blaze with two helicopters and an air tanker.
The second fire was spotted on Saturday at Swakum Mountain.
That blaze is also out of control and estimated to be two and a half hectares.
A cause has not been identified for the Swakum Mountain fire.
