Local Indie Music Community Rallies to Help the Less Fortunate

The local indie music community is rallying to help the less fortunate this holiday season. On Saturday, December 6th, Paperboy and the Messengers, My Kind of Karma, Floyd Meets Brown and Tiger Moon will perform at Habitat for Music for Mouths. Proceeds from ticket sales and an on-site silent auction will go to the Kelowna Community Food Bank, while donations of nonperishable food items for the KCFB will also be accepted at the event.

The charity show is being put on by LocalMotives, a production company that was created by three of the musicians who will perform on the night: Josh Loewen (of Floyd Meets Brown), Taylor Gross (of My Kind of Karma) and Dan Tait (of Tiger Moon). The trio are hoping to see Music for Mouths become an annual event.

Tait explains how Music for Mouths started, saying, “Josh, Taylor and I were having coffee on my back porch, discussing the state of our music scene in Kelowna. We're all really grateful for the support we receive in town, and we were trying to figure out a way to pay it forward and support the community that supports us. We decided to set up a charity event, and eventually settled on the Kelowna Community Food Bank for our charity, as they are helping people at the very root of our local community.”

Tait continued, “Music For Mouths is going to be an all-local event in support of the Kelowna Community Food Bank. With four of the Okanagan's best acts performing, a great venue and creative space playing host, a silent auction and even a food truck outside, it's going to be a great event to get the holiday season kicked off right - and it's all for a really great cause.”

Tickets are only $20 in advance ($30 at the door) and can be purchased at Leo’s Videos, Mosaic Books, DunnEnzies Pizza or from any of the musicians who are performing at Music for Mouths. You can also order tickets by emailing Dan at info@tigermoonmusic.com. He will hand deliver purchased tickets tomorrow (Friday, November 28th) and again next Friday. There is no extra charge for delivered tickets.

Support a fantastic cause, while enjoying some awesome local music!
