A couple from Iowa recently left a $100 tip on a $66 meal—and their service “sucked”.
No, they're not just insanely rich and flashing around their cash. While Makenzie and Steven Schultz didn't enjoy their service at Kazoku Sushi in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, they found that they couldn't blame the waiter.
According to Makenzie Schultz's post on Facebook, the couple had to wait 20 minutes to get water, 40 minutes to get their appetizer, and over an hour for their entrées. While other patrons in the restaurant were complaining and making fun of the restaurant, the couple saw another issue. According to them, the server was clearly overworked.

“He was running around like crazy and never acted annoyed with any table,” said Makenzie. “At one point we counted he had 12 tables plus the bar.” Both Steven and Makenzie had waited tables before and felt sympathy for their waiter. So, acknowledging that his tips that night would be small or non-existent, they decided to make his night and thank him for his hard work. Though their meal only cost $66.65, the Schultzes gave a $100 tip, saying that they were paying it forward.
The couple says they left before the waiter saw the tip. “I'm not posting this for a pat on the back,” said Makenzie. “I'm just sharing this as a friendly reminder to think of the entire situation before you judge. And always, always, always remember where you came from.”
