The City is hosting neighbourhood gatherings and activities to hear firsthand from residents. Tell us what you like about your neighbourhood and why. What’s missing? We want to know that too. What would encourage or enable you to be more involved? Get connected this summer: attend a City-hosted neighbourhood gathering participate online at getinvolved.kelowna.ca complete a survey in person or online (closes Sep. 1) “Like us” on Facebook or join the conversation on Twitter and Instagram using #ourKelowna. Contest Alert! Share your photos using #ourKelowna on Twitter or Instagram taking part in favourite activities in your neighbourhood. You'll be eligible to win a $100 gift certificate for dinner at a Kelowna restaurant of your choice and four tickets to the Kelowna Community Theatre presentation of God Save the Queen, a popular Queen tribute band. Two prize packs are up for grabs valued up to $260.00 each. Visit kelowna.ca/cityprojects for more information and contest details. How attached are you to your neighbourhood? What would make you feel more connected to where you live? Resilient cities are made up of strong neighbourhoods and the City of Kelowna is asking residents what characteristics make up a great neighbourhood. We'll be out at 22 different neighbourhood parks across the city during the summer to hear firsthand how attached residents are to their neighbourhoods and understand the barriers in establishing a stronger sense of empowerment or involvement within neighbourhoods. We invite you to complete the survey (click here). Feedback received will help inform pilot projects for 2015 that enables citizen involvement. Strong neighbourhoods are built on the foundation of their residents and as Kelowna continues to grow with the addition of 1,000 new people each year we're focusing on projects and services that contribute to residents' quality of life.
