Indigenous history is often presented through a settler perspective, with no Indigenous voices involved. This event introduces the practice of recording Indigenous history through both traditional Syilx/Indigenous oral storytelling practices and contemporary Syilx/Indigenous literature. This Indigenous History Month, listen to authors Nicola Campbell (Nłeʔkepmx, Syilx and Métis) and Levi Bent/qʷyqʷaʕyáx̌n,(Syilx) speak to the importance of their Indigenous stories—both past and present. Light refreshments will be served. Okanagan Regional Library 1380 Ellis St. events@kelownanow.com
