2014 Canadian Police Canine Association Championships
This Sunday at the Apple Bowl, the general public is invited to watch day 3 of the Canadian Police Canine Association annual Police Dog competition. The public event will take place from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm with the criminal apprehension, and agility and obedience events taking place.
Admission is by donation, with all proceeds going towards to the B.C. Children's Hospital Foundation. If you want to see the dogs and their handlers in action, the event is starting at 8:30 a.m.
Each year, the CPCA trials are hosted by a different police agency. Unlike many other Police Dog competitions, the trial is not used as a certification or validation for these K9 teams. All dogs competing at this competition have already been certified by their own agency. The purpose of these trials is for the positive spin-offs of friendly competition, and networking among other dog handlers and their respective agencies. The Annual trials consist of either two or three days of competition and a seminar. This format has been very successful and has allowed for the Association’s continued growth and interest over the years. The highlight of these trials has always been a public day, which allows for the public to come out and watch our highly trained K9 teams show off their skills.
