The Law and the Prophets - a film screening
Since June 1967, Israel has controlled, in one way or another, the lives of the Palestinians living in Israel, Gaza, the West Bank and East Jerusalem. Over the course of fifty-six years, this control has become more sophisticated, more systematic, and harder to recognize. The Law and the Prophets is a documentary that amplifies the voices of eight brave, determined individuals who are trying to expose the brutal matrix of laws, policies, and practices that Israel employs to control Palestinians.
The film was the idea of Joshua Vis, the Church Engagement Facilitator for Israel and Palestine for the Reformed Church in America. Johua hosts immersion tours to Israel/Palestine. Vis said, “I’d been working in the area, bringing people for years to meet with these incredible people. What they had to share is so important, I asked myself, ‘How can we amplify their voices?’” The Law and the Prophets does exactly that. It amplifies the Palestinian call for justice and peace.
Central Okanagan United Church and the Kelowna Muslim Women chapter are hosting this screening.
