What do you always find yourself saying?
“Get off of the kitchen counter!!!” My cats are monsters.

If you could spend one whole day with anyone in the world who is currently alive, who would you select and why?
My family. They live in Montreal and North Bay. I only get to see them once a year, and, sometimes not even that. I’d give anything to spend one whole day with them. I miss them every day. I don’t know how they’d feel about it though. They’d probably pretend not to be home. Just like they do at Halloween.

If you were to receive any existing public award, what award would you like to win?
A Grammy Award would be nice, but probably unrealistic. Getting to do a job that I love is reward enough though.

If you could spend a day with any historical figure, who would you choose and why?
John Lennon. I think he’d be the most interesting person to talk to about all kinds of things. Music, art, politics, spirituality. Mostly, I’d like to know what he’d think of the state of the world today. I suspect he’d be disappointed. I’d console him with ice cream and Netflix.

What are three things on your bucket list?
Owning a home. Being featured on KelownaNow’s ‘In Focus’. Learning to play drums. (Hey! One down!)

If you had an enormous yacht, what would you name it?
Richard Parker. No, wait. That’s what I’d name my tiger. I’d name my yacht ‘Richard Parker’s Boat’

If you could foresee a single day of your future in its entirety, what date would you select?
August 15th, 2015. That’s the day I’ll marry my best friend, my biggest fan, and the man of my dreams. That day can’t arrive soon enough. Plus, I look great in a fancy dress.

What are you passionate about?
Music, food, wine, photography, and questionnaires.

What has been your favourite day of your life, up to this point?
The day I moved to Kelowna. I was standing in line for the ferry from Vancouver Island to the mainland, and I said to myself: “Rickie, you’re gonna get on this boat, and your life will totally change.” And it has! Both professionally and personally. I can’t say that I’ve ever been happier than I am right now.

What has been your proudest accomplishment?
Working in radio. I had dreamed of doing that since I was a little girl. Some days, I still can’t believe that I actually do that for a living. Some days, I’m sure listeners wish that I didn’t. Also, using the power of radio to make a difference in the lives of people in need. It’s a great tool for bringing people together, and I’m so proud of that.

Where is your favourite place to dine in Kelowna? What do you like about it?
That’s a tough one because I love to eat! I try to go to Grateful Fed for breakfast every weekend. Great atmosphere, and the breaky is deeelish! Sliderz when I need a poutine fix. I adore the patio at Smack DAB in Manteo Resort. For fine dining, it’s Ricardo’s Mediterranean Kitchen, Bouchons, and Old Vines Restaurant at Quail’s Gate. I could go on…

What is your favourite activity or event in Kelowna? Why?
Anything that gets me outdoors. Hiking Knox Mountain or Mission Creek, ice skating at Stuart Park, parking my butt on Tugboat Bay Beach, or just walking around downtown. Kelowna is so beautiful and the scenery is spectacular. I just soak it up as much as I can. I also love spending a Saturday or Sunday touring different wineries, because…wine!

If you could achieve one thing within your field, what would it be?
To not suck.

Where do you want your business/organization to be in five years?
Kelowna’s #1 polka station. All polka, all the time.

Who do you consider to be a forerunner within your field?
Johnny Fever. That Venus Flytrap is pretty good too.

What three qualities do you feel that your business/organization exemplifies?
Smartness, goofballery, funification.

What would you like to say to your employees/volunteers?
“Put down that beer and get back to work”

How does your business/organization impact the community?
By annoying the heck out of them.

If you were trapped in an elevator with several wealthy investors from any field, which field would you want them to be experts in? What would say to them/talk about?
A butcher, a baker, and a candlestick maker. We’d eat meat sandwiches by soft lighting and gossip about Little Bo-Peep. That woman can’t even keep track of her own sheep. Sad.

If I could change one thing about Kelowna, it would be:
More advanced left turns onto Harvey!!! How many collisions and injuries will it take before something is done about it? I don’t get it.

What do you think makes Kelowna great?
The people, the climate, the naturally beautiful surroundings. What’s not to love? I’m always blown away by how the parks are so well maintained and inviting. Kelowna has the nicest parks in the country.
