In Focus | Kasia Rachfall of Intuitive Art by Kasia

In Focus is our gift to the community. A way for us to help show our recognition for the people, businesses and organizations that help make our city great. The team at KelownaNow.com is passionate about this community and the people that make it amazing. We want to show our friends, neighbours, family and colleagues that we notice them and the fabulous things that they do.

What is your name?
Kasia Rachfall

What do you always find yourself saying?
The answer to this question has changed for me over the years as I have grown and changed. A thread that has been common, however, is about being willing and courageous to be responsible and loving towards ourselves and our responses/reactions. Loving yourself fully means loving your reactions and everything that arises in life. It also means loving everything inside you, even the dark and shadowy stuff. It can be difficult and it's a constant practice but we are the only ones who can truly give ourselves the love we want. I firmly believe that unconditional love for the self is the only way that we can fully love others around us.

If you could spend one whole day with anyone in the world who is currently alive, who would you select and why?
I have always wanted to have tea with my favourite musician, Bryan Adams. I have been a fan of his music since discovering it at the age of 11 and since then I listen to his music more than any other. I'm fascinated and inspired by his creative process and ability to reinvent himself while still always staying true to his rock and roll roots. I would love to ask him about how he creates and what inspires him.

If you were to receive any existing public award, what award would you like to win?
To me the comments and testimonials from clients and fellow businesswomen and men are plenty!

If you could spend a day with any historical figure, who would you choose and why?
I would love to spend a day with Jane Austen. She was a woman who believed in herself and in women. She did her best to stay true to what she wanted despite the great pressures of society and family to do what they said was right. I would love to ask her about what drove her and what gave her strength; what inspired her and what she loved most about her life. The heroines in her stories exuded courage and personal strength and wouldn't settle. She created characters that were very progressive and self aware and ahead of their time.

Who inspires you?
I'm very inspired by my children. They have insight and wisdom that keeps me grounded and brings me back to myself. My kids are home educated and have the freedom and time to explore what they love and to get to know who they are. This has inspired me to learn things in new ways and really ask myself questions about what's important in life. What does success really mean? What does a contribution to the world look and feel like? Who do I want to be when I grow up? Being able to witness how children learn, solve problems, find answers to questions that have given me great courage and led me to new insights. Children really open up our lives.

What are three things on your bucket list?
I would love to learn to drive a giant excavator and dig holes with it. It just sounds like such fun to be able to wield such a huge machine.
I would like to speak seven languages at least conversationally. I speak three currently (English, Polish and French) and can mostly understand two more (German and Spanish). I am looking to learn Portuguese and Russian next.
To travel to some cool places that isn’t on the typical vacationing agenda.

If you had an enormous yacht, what would you name it?
Michalina after my grandma

If you could foresee a single day of your future in its entirety, what date would you select?
This is a tough one and as much as it would seem to be a cool thing to experience a future day, I imagine it may be overwhelming, too. I think growing into your greatest self one day at a time is where I will keep it.

What are you passionate about?
Consciousness studies, art, learning, reading, and travel with my family

What has been your favourite day of your life, up to this point?
I've had so many it's hard to choose just one. Some days that rank pretty high up there from this current year have been skiing up at Big White with my family. And cutting off about 14 inches of my hair and getting a pixie cut!

What has been your proudest accomplishment?
Being able to do what I love.

Where is your favourite place to dine in Kelowna? What do you like about it?
We have lived in Kelowna just over a year and that is not nearly enough time to discover all the jewels here. We've made amazing friends, however, and are loving the community we've found here. Often, usually once or twice a month, we will have pot lucks with friends. Because we all come from different backgrounds we tend to cook from old family recipes for these gatherings and share food that others aren't familiar with. We sit for hours and laugh and enjoy ourselves. So even though I have a feeling this question is referring to a restaurant, my favourite place to dine is a friend's patio.

What is your favourite activity or event in Kelowna? Why?
I love the outdoors and find the weather here encourages being outside as much as possible year round. It's hard to choose my favourite activity because each season brings a new set of things to experience. I love to ski and so this winter my family and I fully enjoyed our season's passes at Big White. In the summer we love to go biking down Mission Creek or the trestles or any of the other local trails. We also tried stand up paddle boarding last summer for the first time and that's become a favourite activity. We are definitely enjoying having all four seasons here.

What is the name of your business/organization?
The name of my business is Intuitive Art by Kasia

What does your business/organization do?
I create art for women and men who are emerging and leading edge thought leaders in our community and the world. I tune into the energy of the person and receive an image that reflects and embodies who they are and then I paint that image. It's like an energy portrait but is not a soul or aura painting. I use mainly acrylic paints and am exploring work with watercolours. I use a lot of bold and fun colours and lines. Expressing the energy I perceive is fun and exciting for me.

Where can people find you or your business online?
I have a website at www.kasiarachfall.com.

How do people connect with you on Linkedin?
My Linkedin is ca.linkedin.com/in/kasiarachfall/en

Where can people find your business on Facebook?
Kasia Rachfall Page

What is your Twitter account?
I am not active on Twitter, however, I do use Instagram at Intuitive Art By Kasia and Pinterest at Kasia Rachfall

What is your mission?
My mission is to help others remember who they truly are and to come back to loving themselves fully.

If you could achieve one thing within your field, what would it be?
To surround as many people as possible with beautiful and colourful art that reminds them of their truth and divinity, helps them focus and inspires them.

Where do you want your business/organization to be in five years?
I would like to be commissioned to paint the energy of some of the biggest thought leaders in our world like Dr. Wayne Dyer, Oprah, and others I admire. I would also like to have published a series of art books that transform the way people feel about themselves.

Who do you consider to be a forerunner within your field?
I don't know of any other artist who creates art from perceiving energy around people. I know there are artists who paint the aura and art therapists/practitioners who use creativity as a transformational process, however, I feel I am a pioneer in what I offer.

What three qualities do you feel that your business/organization exemplifies?
Delivering quality and excellence
Listening to what clients need and want
Connecting with people on a personal level

How does your business/organization impact the community?
I believe art of all types offers people a way to reconnect with themselves. My art is unique in the way it is channelled onto the canvas but my mission is to inspire people to reconnect with themselves. Creating art is reflecting the beauty of the world back to the world and I believe that is my impact as an artist.

If you were trapped in an elevator with several wealthy investors from any field, which field would you want them to be experts in? What would say to them/talk about?
I would love to be stuck with a bunch of conscious entrepreneurs and artists. We would chat about the changing face of business and the importance of relationships, connection and collaboration.

If I could change one thing about Kelowna, it would be:
I can't think of a single thing. I love how small it is compared to a big city and yet it's big enough that we have everything we want here. The people are community focused and that's so important to us. It's such a great place to call home.

What do you think makes Kelowna great?
What I love most about Kelowna are the people. We have lived here just over a year and have found such incredible support and connection within this community. The homeschooling community, the spiritual community, the arts community, the business community...they are all collaborative and supportive. So many people are moving here from all over Canada and even the world and it has created an exciting and growing place. People have diverse interests and are willing to share with others and create new things. Add to that the beautiful countryside and weather...it's the best place to be.

My choice for the Kelowna In Focus spotlight is:
Diana Reyers of Daringly Mindful

Some general comments I would like to share are:
I'd like to share my favourite quote, though I'm not sure who said it: A candle loses nothing by lighting another candle.
