Her business Sarah's Sweets creates beautiful and unique custom cookies for any occasion with each cookie freshly baked and hand decorated to ensure the highest quality taste and presentation. Sarah's hope is that her cookies will make your event more special and that her focus on customer satisfaction will make her the “cookie go to girl” in Kelowna and the surrounding area. Sarah also taught in Namibia (Africa ) for two years and hopes to go back to visit someday, perhaps with her husband and kids. Today Sarah and Sarah's Sweets are In Focus.

What do you always find yourself saying?
Hmmm…. If only I had more time!

If you could spend one whole day with anyone in the world who is currently alive, who would you select and why?
My husband - we don’t get to spend a lot of alone time together!

If you were to receive any existing public award, what award would you like to win?
Best MOM of the year!

If you could spend a day with any historical figure, who would you choose and why?
I’d love to spend the day with someone I could learn a lot from - someone creative and wise maybe a great artist and educator, a creativity expert …. Albert Einstein or Leonardo da Vinci?

Who inspires you?
My dad, my children, my husband… I am inspired by people who work hard every day and are interested in improving their own lives and the lives of those around them.

What are 3 things on your bucket list?
A biking tour through Tuscany

Going back to Namibia Africa, where I taught for 2 years

Visiting with friends I haven’t seen in years

If you had an enormous yacht, what would you name it?
The “sweet life”

If you could foresee a single day of your future in its entirety, what date would you select?
My 50th wedding anniversary

What are you passionate about?
My family, education, living creatively

What has been your favourite day of your life, up to this point?
I have had many, many, wonderful days in my life and am so blessed it is hard to pick just one - my wedding day was wonderful, the day my children were born and some very memorable days on holidays with my family.

What has been your proudest accomplishment?
I am proud of giving birth to two great kids and being the best mom and wife I can be. I am also proud of starting a small business on my own and working hard to make it successful

Where is your favourite place to dine in Kelowna? What do you like about it?
Not sure I have one favourite – there are so many wonderful places to eat out here – Quails Gate Winery is a beautiful setting with delicious food but I also like the Minstral Café in the lower Mission and Mimi’s downtown.

What is your favourite activity or event in Kelowna? Why?
Kelowna is such a beautiful place to live and our family’s favourite summertime activity is spending time together boating on Okanagan Lake. In the winter we love to ski!

To provide delicious and beautiful hand decorated cookies that help make any event a little more special.

If you could achieve one thing within your field, what would it be?
Increase my skill level and be the “cookie go to girl” in Kelowna and the surrounding area!

Where do you want your business/organization to be in 5 years?
I’d love for everyone in Kelowna to think of Sarah’s Sweets if they need a special cookie for a party or event.

Who do you consider to be a forerunner within your field?
Callye Alvarado of Sweet Sugarbelle and Marian Poirer of Sweetopia, a fellow Canadian.

What 3 qualities do you feel that your business/organization exemplifies?
Sarah’s Sweets is all about excellence, attention to detail, personal service and a focus on customer satisfaction.

How does your business/organization impact the community?
We are able to make any event really special and memorable by providing custom, delicious cookies for clients, guests or employees

If you were trapped in an elevator with several wealthy investors from any field, which field would you want them to be experts in? What would say to them/talk about?
Creativity, Education, and Marketing - I love marketing and networking with others in the business community so I would love to learn more about it and how to be creative in a competitive market.

If I could change 1 thing about Kelowna, it would be:
To make housing on the lake more affordable!

What do you think makes Kelowna great?
Kelowna is easily one of the most beautiful places to live in Canada – the lakes, ski hills, wineries, golf courses and orchards make it a natural paradise. The abundance of fresh fruit and hot dry weather in the summer is probably my favourite thing about living in Kelowna and the Okanagan Valley.
