What is your name?
Rochelle Noren

What do you always find yourself saying?
Success isn’t always a straight line

If you could spend one whole day with anyone in the world who is currently alive, who would you select and why?
Kevin O’Leary. He has always been a business idol of mine. His focus and determination for success is impeccable. His philosophy of “get paid while you wait” is reflected in his portfolios of blue chip dividend paying funds.

If you were to receive any existing public award, what award would you like to win?
The Young Entrepreneurship Award, which is awarded to entrepreneurs who best take their business to the next level.

If you could spend a day with any historical figure, who would you choose and why?
Abraham Lincoln. His wisdom and determination kept his country unified following the civil war. He achieved his goal of liberty for all Americans.

Who inspires you?
My family, my mentors and young children: I don’t know where I would be today without my family and mentors. Through thick and thin they always inspire me to be me and to follow my dreams to succeed. Young children inspire me because they are so full of life, the world is at their fingertips and you don’t know what amazing things they will accomplish in their lifetime.

What are three things on your bucket list?
Backpack Thailand, Australia and New Zealand
Enter a wakeboarding competition
Go Heli-skiing

If you had an enormous yacht, what would you name it?
The Backpacker

If you could foresee a single day of your future in its entirety, what date would you select?
The day one of my client’s children uses the plan their parents put in place for them to do something great, maybe even change the world someday!

What are you passionate about?
My business – I get to help parents set up a head start plan for their children. This plan could give their child endless possibilities for their future. It excites me to know that I could make a difference in a child’s life because they have the money to be an entrepreneur, to travel the world, check off a bucket list item, to put a down payment on their first home, or to graduate university with a degree they have dreamed about debt free.

What has been your favourite day of your life, up to this point?
May 9, 2010, this was a bitter sweet day. My softball team, Adelphi University (Garden City, New York) played in the regional finals on my 22nd birthday. We went into extra innings and lost on a nail bitter. I’ll never forget my last game of University ball.

What has been your proudest accomplishment?
My two softball/academic scholarships along with receiving the girls got game, first all-star team (ESPN) and MVP award at Adelphi in my senior year.

Where is your favourite place to dine in Kelowna? What do you like about it?
Sliderz. You witness the Kelowna street entertainment and the good vibes of the community. Attending tourists can get the beat of downtown Kelowna from Sliderz.

What is your favourite activity or event in Kelowna? Why?
The surrounding lakes for wakeboarding and Big White for snowboarding, both are activities that give me a thrill and put the biggest smile on my face. Kelowna is one of the best places for both!

What is your mission?
To help families & individuals be ready for their financial road ahead. I want to help advise parents to set their children up for success with a financial head start plan so they can embrace opportunities as they come. My focus is on turning your needs, wants and dreams into achievable goals. To do this, we employ our client-centred process for understanding where you want to be financially and develop a plan to get you there.

If you could achieve one thing within your field, what would it be?
Inspire all parents to plan for their children’s educational and economic success.

Where do you want your business/organization to be in five years?
Since I have recently brought my business to Kelowna, we currently have a virtual office. I would like to see a home based office in the heart of Kelowna - to be known as the home of the Million Dollar Baby program which is a head start plan to set your child up for success.

Who do you consider to be a forerunner within your field?
There are so many great insurance and investment advisors but if I had to pick one, it would be Kevin O’Leary.

What three qualities do you feel that your business/organization exemplifies?
We believe trust is the key to success and that trust has to be earned. Finances are personal so building a relationship with the client is very important.
We provide comprehensive financial plans that are unique to each client. These can be as extensive as a client wants.
It’s not likely that an advisor is a specialist in all levels of financial planning. This is why we bring in a specialist in areas where the client needs it in their plan.

What would you like to say to your employees/volunteers?
Because each advisor at Chartwell owns their business we come together as a group to strategize, learn, inspire, coach, and succeed. Along with the advisors, we have three admin who secure the backbone of each advisors business. I would like to thank each individual at Chartwell for what they bring to the table. Each impact our philosophy and our own success, keep up the good work!

How does your business/organization impact the community?
The reason I got into this career is because I am an existing child of parents who put together a head start plan for their kids, my brother and I. I thank my parents every day for the planning they did when I was young. My goal is to give this back to the community. We help families, individuals and business owners achieve their financial expectations/wants for them and their loved ones.

If you were trapped in an elevator with several wealthy investors from any field, which field would you want them to be experts in? What would say to them/talk about?
Professional Sport Franchise Owners – To pick their brains on the backbone of running a sports franchise. Sports have always been a major passion and hobby in my life. The wealth succession planning for future generations would also be a topic on mind.

If I could change one thing about Kelowna, it would be:
Have an elevated bypass over Harvey Ave.

What do you think makes Kelowna great?
How diverse it is nature wise. It is one of the few places where you can actually snowboard and wakeboard in the same day. The hiking is incredible, the views are breathless and the community is proud to live here. I feel special and privileged to be a part of it.

My choice for the Kelowna In Focus spotlight is:
Kailee Ryan – Head Instructor of RPM Fitness. She is an incredible trainer that can change your fitness lifestyle.

Some general comments I would like to share are:
Growing up, my family has always vacationed in the Okanagan. Still to this day we have the same cabin down Westside Road which we enjoy thoroughly. I am so happy they introduced me to this beautiful place that when I had the opportunity to bring my business here from the lower mainland I jumped at the opportunity. I am thrilled to be here and want to thank Kelowna Now and “In Focus” for doing a feature on me. I love what you are doing and what you stand for. I also would like to thank Morgan Coulis for nominating me to Kelowna Now. It is fascinating to read all the stories of great organizations out here.

In Focus is our gift to the community. A way for us to help show our recognition for the people, businesses and organizations that help make our city great. The team at KelownaNow.com is passionate about this community and the people that make it amazing. We want to show our friends, neighbours, family and colleagues that we notice them and the fabulous things that they do. We encourage you to leave your comments and words of support below, and submit your own nomination by clicking HERE. You are also welcome to submit a form of your own by clicking HERE.
