Helping people find more rewarding employment.

If you could spend a day with any historical figure, who would you choose?
My father

Who inspires you?
Anyone who has a positive, appreciative outlook towards life

What are three things on your bucket list?
1) Hear Annie Lennox in concert.
2) Teaching our grandchildren about life.
3) Hiking down the Grand Canyon to the Colorado river and doing a white water rafting trip with a helicopter ride back up.

Meeting my wife who is my soul mate

If you had an enormous yacht, what would you name it?
Spartacus

If you could foresee a single day of your future in its entirety, what date would you select?
The birth of my son's first child.

What are you passionate about?
Many things. Health and happiness, love and learning, music, exercise and experiencing success in whatever fashion that takes. Friendships and giving a little more than you receive. Helping people who want to help themselves. Travel and exposure to different cultures. Being generous.

What has been your favourite day of your life, up to this point?
Seeing my son born.

What has been your proudest accomplishment?
Founding and running my own business for almost 20 years in Kelowna.

Wine touring and boating

We provide recruitment/staffing services to business industry and government throughout the Okanagan. This includes temporary and/or permanent staffing, skills evaluation, outplacement services for those who have been laid off and payroll services.

What is your mission?
To be successful and to give back to those less fortunate in whatever way possible.

If you could achieve one thing within your field, what would it be?
Being highly successful at finding job seekers rewarding employment opportunities.

Where do you want your business/organization to be in five years?
To be the leader in the recruitment/HR field throughout the Okanagan.

Who do you consider to be a forerunner within your field?
Mina O'Connor who was my mentor many years ago in Calgary.

What three qualities do you feel that your business/organization exemplifies?
1) Integrity to do what’s right for all concerned.
2) Learning and asking questions to understand our clients' needs.
3) Being innovative and delivering quality above quantity.

What would you like to say to your employees/volunteers?
Thank you. We will move forward together.

How does your business/organization impact the community?
We effectively match job seekers to employers ensuring they find the right employee the first time. Everyone then wins, the employer, the new employee and us. We have also given back to our community over our 19 year history through many charitable organizations.

What makes you successful? Tell us about it.
Over our 19 year history we have always been focused on understanding our clients' needs. This has developed hundreds of solid business relationships that have flourished over time. We continually keep in touch with our clients until their recruitment needs are met without exception. We our clients acknowledge the value we have added, that is our most rewarding moment.

If you were trapped in an elevator with several wealthy investors from any field, which field would you want them to be experts in? What would say to them/talk about?
Engineering who could assess why we're trapped in an elevator. Health/Psychology fields that could support the group during a stressful time.

If I could change one thing about Kelowna, it would be:
More good paying employment opportunities for job seekers.

What do you think makes Kelowna great?
Great community with residents that believe in the city and give back a lot to charitable organizations. Naturally beautiful with lakes, vineyards, orchards, scenery and great weather with super skiing nearby. A future that looks very favorable in many ways being a desirable place to live.

Some general comments I would like to share are:

Born and raised on a farm in Peterborough, Ontario. My father made sure I developed a solid work ethic during my early years in farming. Was hired by the BMO out of university and moved 2,000 miles away to start my banking career in Maple Ridge, BC. Moved to Calgary with BMO to get my human resources experience.
Don't really feel like I sacrificed a lot to get where I am. I was lucky and my career just flowed from banking to human resources to external recruitment to my own staffing business in Kelowna. My wife has always been very supportive. I have enjoyed an exciting career and a good life thus far for which I give thanks.
