A Vancouver based band who were the victim of theft turned to the public for help and they responded with generosity.

On November 22nd Delhi 2 Dublin had just finished a show in Oakland and were fast asleep in their hotel room when police came knocking on the door. Band members were told that a series of vehicle break ins took place in the neighbourhood and their van was one of the victims. Stolen from the group was $15,000 worth of gear including a special guitar, violin, electronics gear and much more. The band was in the middle of their California tour, recording their newest album and preparing for a three week tour in Australia.
Delhi 2 Dublin decided to start a crowd funding campaign on Indegogo in an attempt to raise money to replace their stolen gear. With a $10,000 goal it seemed like a long shot for the band, but thanks to backers, the group reached their goal in just a matter of days. They managed to raise almost $7,000 in less than 24 hours and it was just a few days later when the full goal was reached.

“Not only are we ok, we're really, really good,” said the band on their Facebook page. “We're filled with a deep sense of gratitude and awe. This process has taught us so much about acceptance and the power of 'the ask'. What a perfect mix of emotions to weave into the album we're writing.”
The good news doesn’t stop there though. Thanks to some stealthy detective work by the Bay Area Police, a band members' Fender Jaguar Johnny Marr Custom guitar was located. The band not only reached their goal, had their special guitar recovered, but also saw generosity from locals as gear was lent to them so they could finish their tour of California.

Now the group is back home in Vancouver and to top things off they were able to perform during the 2014 Grey Cup festivities as planned. It’s a great story about how community can rally together and change what could have been a devastating situation into a heart-warming experience.
