Update: A 37-year-old man has been charged in the incident for Unsafe Storage of Firearms, Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm, Possession of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle, and Possession of a Restricted Firearm with Ammunition without a Licence/Registration.

Original Story:

Two Alberta parents required more caution Saturday afternoon when they left their three children alone in the vehicle with a rifle.

The two parents left their three children, aged 1 to 6 years old, in a vehicle parked in a cul-de-sac in Fox Creek, Alberta. As they went into a house, the eldest child found the rifle in the passenger seat and fired it out the driver's side. Thankfully, no one was injured.

The RCMP have made an arrest in connection to the incident. Names are not being released as children are involved in the case.

Fox Creek is located three hours northwest of Edmonton.
