The former General Manager of the Hotel Eldorado has announced his candidacy for Kelowna City Council.
Brad Sieben made his official announcement on Wednesday pointing to his involvement in the business community as his experience.
“I guess you could say that the timing is right,” states Brad Sieben. “With the sale of our business, the retirement of veteran councillors and the momentum in the direction of city council, I decided that I wanted to stand up and get involved now.”
Sieben is a former high school teacher in School District 23 and general manager and partner of the Hotel Eldorado from 2003 to 2014. He is also the former Chair of Tourism Kelowna’s Board of Directors and has served on the board of several committees.
“I want Kelowna to keep moving forward,” comments Sieben. “We need to make decisions based on what is best for this community for both immediate results and long term planning.”
Born and raised in Kelowna, Sieben says using common sense, good judgement and listening to the public is key to being a good city councillor. So far there has only been a handful of candidates running for a council seat. Those to publicly announce their intentions include Tracy Gray, current councillor Mohini Singh, and Taxpayers First which includes Carol Gran, Dale Olson and Graeme James.
