Canada’s top baby names of 2015 have been released by BabyCenter.ca!
The site compiles the top 100 boys and girls name of the year.
For the girls side, there was an element of royal fever as Canadian parents followed in the footsteps of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. William and Kate welcomed their second child, daughter Charlotte, in 2015, making Charlotte the 8th most popular name of the year.
Gender neutral names also took a unique turn in 2015. Names that would have normally been considered male only names, such as Blake, Hunter and Henley, became popular for girls.
This trend was in part celebrity assisted, as a number of high-profile parents named their daughters traditional boy names. Actors Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds named their baby girl James, Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis welcomed daughter Wyatt and most recently, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg and his wife welcomed baby girl Max.
