Vernon RCMP has arrested a suspect in connection to recent community mailbox thefts in the North Okanagan.
Police say on Sunday May 4th they responded to reports that five community boxes had been broken into in the Lavington and Lumby area. A short while later a man and woman attempted to cash a cheque related to the thefts at a Vernon Money Mart. The police were called and ended up chasing after the couple.
The 21 year old woman was caught in Polson Park and police discovered eight outstanding warrants for her arrested.
A vehicle belonging to the pair was also searched and police found tools and mail items indicating thefts from the Super mailboxes throughout the Okanagan. RCMP are still looking for the male suspect.
RCMP are still investigating and recording all the stolen items that have been recovered. Investigators are asking those affected by the thefts to contact RCMP.
