Kelowna's Dancing Cowboy Loses Battle With Cancer

Sad news this week as a local fixture in the country nightclub community passed away on Tuesday at the age of 80 years old.

Arnie Davis was a regular on the dance floor at the OK Corral Cabaret on Thursday and Saturday nights for the last 20 years but has lost his battle with lung cancer.

Davis retired from dancing at the Corral in 2013 and has been missed dearly by the other regulars.

Davis was recently the subject of a local documentary by Chelsea McEvoy, which has been viewed more than 20,000 times.

He was considered “an inspiration to young and old” that proved you can keep on dancing and feel forever young.

“Arnie was an amazing dancer who brought many ladies to the floor! But what I will remember him the most for was watching him work with horses! This man's gentle spirit was amazing and he will be greatly missed not only by us but by those animals he loved so dearly!” Jessica Davidson posted on Facebook

The OK Corral posted on their Facebook page that Davis passed away and people have posted their condolences and memories of Davis. But his legend will always last because of the 12 minute documentary produced by McEvoy.

In the video Davis offers advice to young men looking to meet girls, jokes about going to the Corral was like a job but says “all good things must come to an end."

“The dance hasn't stop. It's just been moved to a bigger dance floor up above us all. Dance away kind Sir!” posted Kin H. Woo.

Information about a funeral service has not yet been released.
