Kelowna RCMP is warning residents about a door to door scam that has surfaced in the community that could put personal information at risk.
On Thursday officers were made aware of a possible scammer that was going door to door collecting information for a non-existent survey about air quality in people’s homes. A concerned resident contacted police when he found it odd the two men at his door said they were from a company called Northern Air Solutions from Saskatchewan.
The two scammers told the resident that he would be eligible to win a prize and all he needed to do was provide personal information including his name, age, phone number and address. He was then assured that the company would conduct an air quality assessment in his home for free.

The two men were located by police in the Wintergreen Drive area and were not able to provide officers with any identification including a business licence or business cards. The two 24 year old men from Regina were told to stop soliciting residents and to immediately leave the area. RCMP is asking residents to be vigilant when doing business with someone whom they are not familiar with.
To prevent being scammed:
Always ask a door to door solicitor for proper identification and a business license
Don’t feel pressured and give information or money to someone you don't know
Always lock your doors when doing yard work, getting the mail, or anytime you go outside
Never allow strangers into your home
Ask for references and call them
Write down the license plate number of any suspicious vehicle(s) the suspect(s) may be operating
Call police if you believe it is a scam
