Cops For Kids Ride Home with Hearts Weighted Down

Cops For Kids riders were welcomed home on Sunday after an arduous ride across the southern interior.

The twenty-one cyclists have been riding for ten days as part of a fundraiser for children in medical, physical, or traumatic crisis. They've experienced both a hill climb in 32 degree weather and days of rain that was near freezing.

The money goes towards medical equipment as well as travel, mobility, and learning aids for local children. However, Cops for Kids is facing a shortfall in funding for the first time in its history. The children's need continues throughout the year, and there's currently a wait list for funding. The organization needs donations year-round to be able to meet demand.

“We’ve had the opportunity to meet some very special children throughout our journey,” said Cops for Kids Rider and President Gail Harrison. “These families shared the stories of their struggles, and it’s driven our team to push through the sore muscles and keep riding to raise essential funds. Our riders realize that our need outweighs our funding right now, and so we’re all working as hard as we can to raise the money that’s needed in our communities.”

Cops for Kids has several events throughout the year and is always accepting donations from those who'd like to help.
