Okanagan College will be hosting the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) on November 1st and to prep for the test will start on September 16th.
There are two versions of the testing system, academic and general and they both service different purposes. The academic version is used for entrance into post-secondary institutions and the general is used for work or immigration purposes. Both tests include listening and speaking sections as well as reading and writing. The general version is one of the measures that Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) will accept as part of an immigrant’s application for citizenship.
The test is being offered at the College in conjunction with Global Village Vancouver and the preparatory course offered will be a 10 hours a week. It includes focused development on vocabulary and academic as well as general reading and writing tasks.
