The annual BMO Okanagan Marathon takes place on Sunday, October 12th and that means there will be a number of road closures to accommodate the race.

Full and partial closures will be in effect from 6:30 a.m. until about 2:00 p.m. unless otherwise noted. The following closures will be in place in the north end of the city:
Abbott Street from Leon Avenue to Bernard Avenue - local traffic allowed after 9 a.m.
Lawrence Avenue from Abbott Street to Water Street - local traffic allowed after 9 a.m.
Bernard Avenue from Abbott Street to Water Street - local traffic allowed after 9 a.m.
Mill Street from Bernard Avenue to Water Street - closed until 1 p.m.
Water Street from Bernard Avenue to Clement Avenue - closed until 9 a.m.
Clement Avenue from Water Street to Sunset Drive - closed until 9 a.m.
Sunset Drive from Clement Avenue to Recreation Avenue closed to northbound traffic until 9 a.m. only; southbound traffic expect delays until 12:30 p.m.
Ellis Street from Recreation Avenue to Broadway Avenue – closed to southbound vehicle traffic only from 6:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m.; northbound traffic expect delays
Manhattan Drive and Recreation Avenue between Sunset Drive and Richter Street closed from 6:30 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.
Richter Street remains open to vehicle traffic, expect delays
Weddell Place, Trench Place, Ethel Street, Bay Avenue and Jones Street and Broadway Avenue closed except for local traffic from 6:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Manhattan Drive and Guy Street - open to local traffic only in a clockwise pattern; enter and exit at Bay Avenue, from 6:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

On the south end of the city motorists can expect the following delays and closures:
Vehicles looking to access the south end of the city (south of Barrera Road/Casorso Road) are encouraged to use Gordon Drive to avoid road closures and delays. Pandosy Street will remain open; however, expect delays as runners cross at West Avenue and Swordy Road.
No access to Abbott Street (southbound) from Highway 97. Vehicles traffic should turn south at Pandosy Street.
Abbott Street from Highway 97 to Gyro Beach – closed to southbound traffic only, northbound local traffic allowed
Lakeshore Road at Swordy Road; participants will be crossing; expect delays
Swordy Road from Lakeshore Road to Casorso Road local traffic only, expect delays
Casorso Road from Swordy Road to KLO Road – closed to northbound traffic only; southbound traffic allowed, expect delays
KLO Road from Casorso Road to Gordon Drive
one eastbound lane closure, no impact on westbound traffic
participants will be crossing KLO Road at Campus Road East and at Campus Road West, expect delays
Raymer Avenue from Gordon Drive to Pandosy Street – open to local traffic only; expect delays
Richter Street at Raymer Avenue – participants will be crossing; expect delays
Tutt Street from Raymer Avenue to West Avenue – local traffic only
West Avenue from Tutt Street to Abbott Street – expect delays as participants cross Pandosy Street at West Avenue
There will also be parking restrictions during the event mainly downtown. City park parking lot will be partially closed from October 7th until October 10th and will be fully closed from October 11th until
October 12th. Transit customers can expect delays for all routes serving Queensway Exchange and the Okanagan College area as well as minor routing detours on routes # 2 Northend. For more information on the race and a detailed route map, visit okanaganmarathon.ca.
