Current Kelowna Mayor Walter Gray has thrown his support behind a city council candidate just two weeks before residents head to the polls.
Gray is putting his support behind Ryan Donn, who is hoping to secure a seat on city council and enter politics for the first time. Gray is the second city council member to publicly support a candidate as current councillor Andre Blanleil announced his support for Colin Basran for mayor and Brad Sieben for council.
“On election day we need to look at candidates that are rounded, candidates that are generalists, candidates that are not single issue candidates,” said Gray. “Today we are talking about Ryan Donn, and there are others too, but he is one that I believe fills that bill. He’s a real people person.”
Gray was first elected to Kelowna City Council in 1986 and served as a councillor for two terms. He was elected mayor in 1996, 1999, 2002 and 2011. He will not be running for mayor in the upcoming election.
The civic election is Saturday November 15th, 2014.
