Vernon RCMP is investigating a hit and run that sent a 44 year old woman to hospital with serious injuries.

According to police the incident occurred around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday evening at 39th Avenue and Alexis Park Drive. When officers arrived at the scene they found a blue Jeep and a Hyundai that had been involved in a crash. The driver of the Hyundai, the 44 year old woman, was still in her car while the driver of the Jeep fled.
The woman was transported to Vernon Jubilee Hospital and because of the extent of her injuries she was transferred to Vancouver General Hospital on Thursday. RCMP believes the driver of the jeep is in his 20s and has not been located by police.

The Vernon RCMP is asking anyone who knows the driver of the Jeep, to please call the Vernon Police Office. It is very likely that he was injured in this crash as well.
