Kids Read Mean Tweets About Themselves

Jimmy Kimmel made reading mean tweets a funny skit on his television show but the Canadian Safe School Network (CSSN) is using it in a very different way.

The organization has produced a video with kids reading mean tweets to highlight the negative effects of bullying via social media. The Canadian Safe School Network is a not for profit organization dedicated to reducing youth violence and making our schools and communities safer. The video is done in the exact same manner as the ‘Celebrities Reading Mean Tweets” skit that Kimmel has made so famous. But the content in the CSSN video is a stark reminder of what today’s youth face in the digital world.

The not so funny video is very touching as the students react to the comments being made about them though cyberbullying. The organization has launched an Indigogo campaign to raise money to help spread the video and messages to as many Canadian youth as possible. The goal is to reach $10,000 so 10 million people will see the message.

If you can’t contribute financially, you can still help. Just share this Indiegogo link to your friends and family. Or share the video through your social channels so more people can get the message that cyberbullying is no joke.
