Man Takes Selfie for Every Mile Hiking from Mexico to BC

A man hiked 2660 miles of trail, and he documented it in 2660 selfies.

Andy Davidhazy recently hiked the Pacific Crest Trail, which runs 2660 miles from the Mexico border through the mountains of California, Oregon, and Washington to Manning Park in B.C. It took him a total of five months, and he lost a whopping 50 pounds while doing it. This ambitious hiker decided to document the physical transformation of both the environment and himself during the trip, taking a selfie at the end of every single mile. After he finished, he made an incredible time lapse showing the changes throughout his journey.

“Taking a photo of myself every mile wasn't about vanity, but rather a way for me to fully commit to the whole hike,” said Davidhazy. “If I were to skip ahead, myself and everyone else would know it.”

Davidhazy decided to do the hike as a personal challenge. “There's a lot of things I want to achieve in life, and as I've grown older I have begun to worry that they may not happen,” said Davidhazy. “So I wanted to test my limitations, fears and commitment by doing something that had no short cuts. You either hike every foot of the trail (from Mexico to Canada) or you don't.”

Check out the video of his transformation below. For more information about Davidhazy and his project, see his website.
