President Barack Obama isn’t afraid to go for the laughs.
The White House Correspondents’ Dinner is a traditional dinner held every year and attended by the president. The president usually injects a bit of humour into the speech, and this year, President Obama invited comedian Keegan-Michael Key from Key & Peele to be his “anger translator”. Key plays Luther, the one who translates the president’s mild-mannered statements into witty and pointed jabs at the press, upcoming presidential candidates, and the government itself. For those who don’t watch Key & Peele, the anger translator is a recurring character in sketches.
Hilarity soon ensues as Key keeps up a wide-eyed, angry stare and flips out at the audience, all while Obama keeps a straight face and delivers his speech. When Obama comes to climate change, however, the comedian himself has to calm down the president. “Okay, I got it, bro.”
