Hyundai Motors is issuing a recall for over 58,000 cars in Canada due to a possible power steering issue.
The recall was issued on Friday and affects 2008-2010 Hyundai Elantra and 2009-2010 Elantra Touring vehicles. Transport Canada's recall says that certain vehicles could have a sudden loss of power steering assist, which could happen at any time while driving.
Though control of steering could still be maintained, the recall warns that the sudden change to manual steering would mean greater driver effort. This change could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or property damage.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in the United States says that potentially 204,768 vehicles could be affected in total.
