Canadian City Lands on National Geographic Best Summer Trips List

A Canadian city has made the National Geographic Best Summer Trips of 2015 list, but you may not believe which one it is.

The annual list covers the entire world with amazing destinations such as Machu Picchu, Peru; Athens, Greece; Victoria, Australia; and now, Edmonton, Alberta. According to the Nat Geo list, Edmonton is welcoming the world this summer, hosting a number of international events. The city will host the FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015, the Edmonton Folk Music Festival, and the Edmonton Heritage Festival.

"Make this a summer to remember by snowboarding in the Australian Alps, stargazing in a Sedona red rock canyon, or exploring a volcanic Global Geopark in South Korea. Whether you’re craving adventure or relaxation, our editors’ list of ten Best Summer Trips—plus one reader’s choice—offers a world of possibilities," said editor Maryellen Kennedy Duckett.

The top ten list includes destinations chosen for their adventure, relaxation, and world of possibilities. The editors recommend taking the Edmonton Transit Service to get around, or the Light Rail Transit to jump from downtown to festival sites. Edmonton is one of Canada’s sunniest cities, with about 2,300 total hours of sunshine annually.

The top ten list is as follows:

Machu Picchu
Arizona
Konstanz, Germany
Athens, Greece
Edmonton, Canada
England
Singapore
Bermuda
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Victoria, Australia
Jeju Island, South Korea –reader’s choice
