Edmonton police just made the largest fentanyl pill seizure in Canada

The Edmonton Police Service said they made the largest fentanyl pill seizure in Canada this July.

An investigation that started in March 2017 has resulted in a seizure of 130,000 fentanyl pills.

The investigation started out with police looking into a group believed to be trafficking a large amount of illegal drugs.

Following that investigation, an investigation team searched an Edmonton residence on July 5th where they found and seized 67,000 fentanyl pills with an estimated value of $2 million.

“This was a significant drug operation that has been dismantled,” says S/Sgt. Karen Ockerman. “We know we have saved lives by taking that quantity of fentanyl off the streets.”

Police searched three more homes in Edmonton residences and a fourth in Sturgeon County, where they found a fentanyl pill processing lab.
