A bargain hunter’s guide to Black Friday in Kelowna

In the U.S., Black Friday is held the day after Thanksgiving and marks the beginning of the Christmas Shopping Season. It’s a wild shopping extravaganza whereby Americans scavenge for the best deals for their loved one’s Christmas shopping. It’s the premium day of the year for the hawkish, bargain hunter.

Fortunately, as the U.S.’s northern brother, we’ve started to inherit this annual tradition. And, while it’s not as mad as down south, it’s certainly starting to take off.

“A decade ago, Black Friday was a foreign holiday, not something that the Okanagan participated in,” said Andre Blanleil, owner of locally owned Andre's Electronic Experts, a chain that’s been in business since 1976. “Over the last four years, we’ve seen Black Friday take off! For example, our suppliers are offering incredible deals that would have been unheard of five years ago.”

So, with the mention of ‘incredible deals’ let’s get straight to it. Here’s a list of some of the best Black Friday Deals in the Okanagan, from fashion and furniture to fishing rods. Plus, the majority of stores offered on this list are locally grown and operated!
