NASA Rocket Explodes on Take Off

A NASA space ship has exploded just after take-off which was supposed to deliver supplies and experiments to the International Space Station (ISS).

The Antares launch took place on Tuesday after it was delayed one day by bad weather in eastern Virginia. Scheduled to rendezvous with the ISS on November 2nd, the unmanned rocket burst into flames just moments after takeoff. Orbital has declared a “contingency” and is working with NASA to determine what lead to the mishap.

The rocket was carrying the Cygnus CRS-3 spacecraft which would have carried 2,215 kilograms of cargo to the six crew members of Expedition 41 at the ISS. Dramatic video captures the launch and explosion, and luckily there were no injuries or fatalities.
