Thanks to some heavy winds Monday evening, B.C.’s Southern Interior has experienced a number of power outages throughout the Central, South, and North Okanagan, as well as throughout the Kootenays.
Fortis BC has restored approximately 10,000 customers as of late Monday night and early Tuesday morning, but there are still about 1,500 customers remaining without power.

Although the majority of customers without power reside in the Kootenays, there are currently 75 customers in the South Okanagan—Willowbrook, Bridesville, and Keremeos—who are also without power. Crews are currently on site in the South Okanagan, but an estimated time of restoration has yet to be determined.

Ben Lee Water Park here in Kelowna also experienced a bit of a power glitch from Monday night’s winds, but the issue has since been resolved.
However, up in the North Okanagan there are hundreds of people still out of power from Monday evening's wind storm. According to BC Hydro, a total of 815 customers in Vernon are without power and approximately 18 customers in Nakusp are also in the dark. BC Hydro anticipates power restoration for the North Okanagan by early Tuesday evening.
In the Kootenays, crews are working hard to get power restored to hundreds of customers, as people from the Slocan Valley down to East Shore Koot Lake are currently experiencing a power outage. Fortis BC is hoping to have all of the power restored in the Kootenays by Tuesday evening.
