Thompson Rivers University (TRU) has been forced to issue an apology to hundreds of potential students who received an acceptance letter in error.
The university has now issued a retraction after more than 500 students received admission letters for Fall 2015 into the Bachelor of Science Nursing Degree program.
These letters were sent to individuals in error due to a technical error that took place during a mail merge process in the Admissions Office.

TRU Interim Registrar Lindsay Harris expressed that they are extremely sorry that the error occurred.
“Retraction emails were sent to all affected applicants between 9:00 pm and 11:30 pm last night. Follow-up communication is a top priority and is being provided promptly," said Harris.
The email was sent to 504 people on Thursday, April 16th when only 103 applicants were supposed to receive seat offers.
Harris confirmed that TRU is conducting an investigation into the processes that led to the technical error and noted that all necessary revisions will be made to reduce the risk of a recurrence.
School of Nursing Dean Donna Murnaghan said that the application process for nursing spaces is competitive throughout B.C.
“We understand how awkward this situation is and how disappointed prospective students and their families may be. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this mistake may have caused," concluded Murnaghan.
Anyone who may have been affected by this error are encouraged to contact Donna Murnaghan at 250-852-7288 or admissions at 250-828-5036.
