In a phone conversation with Scott's lawyer Joe Gordon, he confirmed that Scott's charges were dropped on the grounds of lack of intent.

Despite having the criminal charges dropped, Scott has now been charged with one count of driving without due care and alertness under the motor vehicle act.

In facing these charges, Scott's next court date will be in about a month.

Scott, who was a contracted driver for the Daily Courier at the time of the incident, was initially charged with hitting 83 year old Julie Gillespie. Gillespie was walking home when she was allegedly hit by Scott. She was found alone with serious, extensive injuries in the alley between the Daily Courier and the McWilliams Centre. Gillespie died after being rushed to hospital and Scott was arrested late Sunday evening on the 23rd of November.
