On Wednesday, April 1st, 2015, the outdoor market will open at the corner of Springfield and Dilworth beside Orchard Park Mall. On June 27th, 2015 the Market will celebrate its 20th birthday, and there will be lots of entertainment, birthday cake, and fun for the whole family. There will be plenty of changes for the Market this year, including a new Market Manager.

Long-time manager Bob Callioux retired in 2014 and Gisele Glover will take over for 2015. Callioux was instrumental in starting the market 20 years ago, and many vendors who were there from the beginning are still there today.

Glover was a vendor in 1996 and has assisted Callioux for the past few years, helping to grow the Market from six vendors to more than 200 full season and part time vendors. New this year is the addition of locally produced alcohol sales, allowing market goers to purchase local wine, beer, or spirits to complement the fresh local produce, cheese, breads, meats, condiments, and other items available at the market. All alcohol vendors must meet strict sampling guidelines and be approved by BC Liquor Control before attending the markets.

The market anticipates a positive year with the focus on providing the community with the best products the region has to offer. The goal is to find a permanent site for the market, but there are no plans to move at present.
