Update: Environment Canada ended the rainfall warning just before 11 a.m. on Sunday, saying significant rainfall is no longer expected.
Original Story:
Sorry Kelowna and Penticton, but heavy rain is expected this Sunday of the May long weekend.
Environment Canada has issued a rainfall warning for the Central Okanagan to the South Okanagan, with up to 25 mm of rain expected Sunday morning. Downtown Kelowna is already seeing plenty of the wet stuff, but an upper disturbance is bringing continued showers, at times heavy, to the Okanagan Valley. The rain is supposed to taper off by noon as the disturbance dissipates.
Osoyoos has reported about 25 mm of rain overnight, and Environment Canada warns that heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads.
Don’t despair yet! Kelowna already enjoyed a gorgeous day on Saturday, and Monday is forecasted to be mainly sunny with a high of 25°C.
