A young Kelowna girl was born as a right arm amputee, but that hasn’t stopped her from doing what she loves.
Alexa Robertson, a 9-year-old Kelowna girl, loves to dance. Though she was born a right arm amputee, Robertson hasn’t let that slow her down from living a full and active life. With support from The War Amps, Robertson has received a specially made, flexible hand that even allows her to do various floor moves.

As a member of The War Amps Child Amputee (CHAMP) Program, Robertson is eligible for financial assistance with artificial limbs and recreational devices.
Robertson’s parents are happy to see the new hand making a difference for their daughter. “The arm has been great, especially in her acrobatic dance classes, because it has a lot of give, allowing her to do cartwheels and handstands.”
“I really like my new hand because I can do lots of fun moves with it,” says Robertson.

The program encourages Champs to keep a positive attitude and live to their full potential. “Alexa’s determination and zest for life is an inspiration to all,” said Danita Chisholm, Executive Director, CHAMP Program. “With the public’s support of the Key Tag and Address Label Service, we are happy to help young amputees like Alexa obtain the tools they need to enjoy some of their favourite activities.”
