The Canadians continue to win at the U18 World Championship as they held on to an early lead for a 5-4 victory against Sweden in the tournament’s semifinal on Saturday.
After scoring four goals in the first period, the Canadians only found the net once more in the match as Sweden clawed away at the score.
Once again, Tij Iginla and Ryder Ritchie were stellar as the duo from the Okanagan each recorded a goal and an assist in the win.
The Canadians took an early 1-0 lead before Gavin McKenna doubled the lead with his 16th point of the tournament, a Canadian record.
The scoring kept coming when Tij Iginla scored his fifth goal of the tournament near the halfway mark of the period.

As the clock wound down on the opening frame, Iginla recorded an assist on Ryder Ritchie’s goal that made it a 4-0 game.
After a Swedish goal, Henry Mews restored the four-goal lead for Canada, their last goal of the game.
Sweden added another goal in the second period and a pair of scores in the third period, but the deficit was too big to overcome.
The Canadians will now take on the United States for gold.
