Vancouver Police Investigate Attempted Abduction

Vancouver Police is warning the public after an attempted abduction took place in that city Tuesday evening.

According to police, just after 8:00 p.m. a 22 year old woman was walking along Prince Albert Street in the area of East 10th Avenue when she was approached from behind and grabbed by a stranger. The man wrapped his arms around the woman and dragged her to a nearby van. The woman was hit in the head and face with an object and then the man attempted to drag her inside the vehicle.

The woman managed to fight her assailant off, which caused him to fall into the van, at which point she escaped. The terrified woman ran to a nearby home and called 9-1-1. Police arrived on scene and attempted to locate the van and attacker but were unable to. Meanwhile, the woman was taken to hospital for minor physical injuries.

The man was described as white, in his 30’s, six feet tall, wearing a dark hoodie and gloves. He was driving a dark green minivan. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Vancouver Police Sex Crimes Unit at (604) 717-0600 or Crime Stoppers at 1 (800) 222-8477.
