An overwhelming show of support for the Edwards-Cyrus family after Vancouver Police Department kick started a 'gofundme' campaign, raising over $18,230 in just seven days. The Edwards-Cyrus family lost many of their belongings in a devastating fire on December 1st and funds raised by the community will allow the family to start fresh.
The family consists of dad Jason, Mom Fay, six year old Zahiem, and four year old Isaiah. The Vancouver Police Department set out to raise only $10,000, but the community has gone above and beyond, ensuring this family will have a Merry Christmas.
Thus far, the family has moved into a new residence and are looking forward to getting back on their feet.
“They are overwhelmed by your support and there have been many tears of joy,” read a statement from the gofundme campaign.
“We just want to say thank you from the bottom of our hearts. My family and I really appreciate all the donations to help us rebuild our lives and our home. Thanks to all who donate to give our kids a merry merry Christmas. Words can't express how much it means to my family and I,” said Fay.
If you too would like to help this family get back on their feet, visit the gofundme page set up by the Vancouver Police Department.
