A suspicious fire started early Friday morning during a break-in at the Capilano University library in North Vancouver.
The fire began in the library administration area, with emergency sprinklers activating and extinguishing the fire before it could spread. The fire was contained to the library, and there is localized water and smoke damage. Additionally, a safe had been removed from the wall in the library and pried open. North Vancouver RCMP report that it is not yet known if any property is missing.
The North Vancouver Arson Union and North Vancouver District Fire Department have determined that fire was deliberately set. Investigators are examining video surveillance to find potential suspects.
The library was closed on Friday, but classes will begin as normal on Monday, January 5th.
