Fraudulent Surrey-based business executives are facing charges for fraud over $5,000 after fabricating operating claims.
President of Aggressive Roadbuilders, 47 year old Matthew Gregory Brooks of Surrey and the Controller/Bookkeeper, 46 year old Kirk Dennis Roberts of Langley are facing charges in relation to a business scheme, which allegedly involved numerous false and misleading operating claims.
The investigation began in 2009 when RCMP Federal Serious and Organized Crime received information from a financial institution about exaggerated and over-inflated financial documents associated to a business line of credit for Aggressive Roadbuilders.
“Illegal economic activity undermines our economy and the repercussions directly or indirectly impact all Canadians," said Inspector Brian Gateley of FSOC. “Significant fraud investigations like this rely on the comprehensive analysis of all financial records. They are intensely time-consuming for all involved, including police, businesses and government agencies and the costs incurred must ultimately be absorbed elsewhere within our economy.”
Charges have been approved and both men are scheduled to appear in court on February 13th.
