Three Taken to Hospital After Bound and Beaten in Richmond

The RCMP Serious Crime Unit are investigating a case after finding three adults bound and badly beaten near River Road in Richmond. RCMP are now looking for four suspects

On February 28th, at approximately 11:00 p.m., Richmond RCMP officers responded to a noise complaint coming from a secluded location along River Road between Number 7 and 8 Road.

Upon arriving to the scene, officers were taken aback to discover three adults bound and badly beaten.

The victims, one female and two males, were transported by BC Ambulance to local hospital for treatment.

One of the victims suffered extensive lacerations to his face and head. All three victims are residents of the lower mainland area. They have since been released from hospital and they are cooperating with investigators.

The victims were apparently sitting by a campfire and celebrating an anniversary when they were approached by a group of four unknown males.

The men mistook the trio as someone else and continued to beat them. After the incident, the four men fled the scene in a dark coloured car.

RCMP said this incident appears to be isolated and refer to it as a saddening case of mistaken identity.

One suspect is being described as Caucasian male, 20-30 years of age. The other three suspects are all males and described as in their mid-20s to mid-30s.

“This is a very disturbing and vicious assault on three innocent people. One victim suffered significant injuries and all will have to live with the memory of this brutal assault. We will be doing everything in our power to locate these suspects and bring justice to these victims,” said Corporal Chris Tarasoff of the Richmond RCMP Serious Crimes Unit.

Richmond RCMP are seeking additional witnesses who may have been in the area from 7:00 p.m. until 11:00 p.m. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Serious Crime Unit at 604-278-1212.
