An order has come down from the B.C. Teacher Regulation Board stripping a teacher of his certificate to teach following pleading guilty to child pornography charges.
Former Chilliwack elementary school teacher John Patrick Davy was handed down a sentence for possession and distribution of child pornography in June 2014. He was handed a two-and-a -half year sentence in jail for the charge. The former grade six teacher at Greendale elementary school was found with more than 27,000 digital child porn files and 866 videos.
As a result of the charges he had his teaching certificate stripped and in an agreement with the teaching branch, he agrees that he will never apply for it again. Davy had been a teacher since 1997 and had his certificate of qualification cancelled on July 31st, 2014 following the charges.
Davy breached his conditions while on bail and accessed the internet while in Kelowna in September 2014. He was found with a computer that had more than 1,000 child porn images on it.
According to the agreement with the Board, he will never be issued a certificate to teach at a public or private school in B.C. ever again.
