The “shelter-in-place” has been lifted in Squamish, but a stage four water restriction is now in effect.
According to the District of Squamish, the air quality in Squamish has improved as of Friday morning and residents are permitted to leave their homes.
However, residents should be aware that conditions could change as fire crews continue to battle the blaze.
According to Squamish Fire Rescue, the fire is fully contained but not entirely out. Crews will be using a three hour low tide window to continue fighting the fire from the water.

Provincial officials will continue to monitor the air quality.
At approximately 11:30, the District of Squamish issued a stage four water restriction in support of firefighting efforts.
“Please minimize your indoor water use and do not use water outdoors,” read the District of Squamish Facebook. “While we are not currently near capacity, implementing these restrictions will help avoid stressing our water system more than necessary.”
