Original story:
Hard working fire crews managed to contain a massive blaze at the Squamish shipping terminals within only a few hours on Thursday evening.
As of midnight on Thursday, the fire was 90 per cent contained and fire crews were on scene throughout the rest of the evening/early morning to ensure the fire remained at bay.
After the majority of the fire was contained, efforts were switched to extinguishing the fire underneath the dock. However, crews had to wait until the tide went out.

Vancouver Coastal Health reinforced a “shelter-in-place” advisory for the public, as the air was dense with heavy smoke and it may have induced difficulty breathing. Citizens were asked to stay inside their homes with windows and doors firmly closed.
No air quality advisory was in effect, but the Ministry of Environment is expected in Squamish early Friday morning to monitor the region.
Along with Squamish Fire Rescue, a Vancouver Fire Boat attended the scene
Squamish drinking water was not impacted as a result of the blaze. No public evacuation was necessary.
