A Victoria Police officer has been charged with 13 counts of fraud, actions that stem from off duty work.
The Regional Crown Counsel approved the fraud-related charges against VicPD Constable Leroy Anderson on Thursday, April 23rd. The charges include six counts of forgery, six counts of possession or a forged document, and one count of fraud. In early September 2014, Anderson was suspended with pay after information was brought forward to VicPD about the potential fraud activity.

A Police Act investigation was initiated, which continued until it was suspended on November 27 when Chief Constable Frank Elsner requested the RCMP to conduct a criminal investigation.
“These are trying times for everyone involved,” said Chief Constable Frank Elsner. “I want to assure everyone that when this information came to light, VicPD took immediate action. As the case is now before the courts, and there is an ongoing Police Act investigation, we are limited in what we can say at this time. We sincerely appreciate your understanding as we navigate through this difficult time while offering support to everyone involved.”
Anderson’s employment status is now under review by the Victoria and Esquimalt Police Board.
