A 52-year-old man is dead after his Harley struck a rock face 1 km south of Sicamous.
The motorcycle collision occurred at about 7 p.m. Thursday evening on Highway 97A about 1 km south of Sicamous. So far, investigation shows that two motorcycles were going north on the highway towards Sicamous when one of them went off the road. The 2006 Harley Davidson motorcycle then struck a rock face before coming to rest in the southbound lane.

A passing motorist found the man there and stopped to help. As the driver was calling 911 and flagging other motorists to stop, the second motorcyclist returned briefly to the scene and then left in what police call “a distraught emotional state”.

The driver of the Harley was a 52-year-old Malakwa resident, and he died at the scene.
Investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the collision and the circumstances around the incident. The highway was closed for several hours because of the accident.
