Cisco Road Fire 70 Per Cent Contained

Fire crews continue to make positive progress battling the Cisco Road Fire, as the fire is 70 per cent contained.

The B.C. Wildfire Management Branch reported the progress to containing the blaze on the north, east, and south sides of the fire, which will steer the fire west where rocky alpine will limit the spread of the blaze.

The fire, which is burning west of the Fraser River and south of Lytton, is still estimated at 1,885 hectares.

The Thompson-Nicola Regional District lifted an evacuation alert for nearby residents Monday afternoon as the risk of danger for public safety from the fire has declined.

There are nearly 170 personnel, along with seven helicopters and four pieces of heavy equipment, currently battling the blaze.
